SPLASH is Year 2000 compliant. The Year 2000 problem stems from computer programmers having used the MM/DD/YY month day year notation. This notation only uses two (2) digits to represent the year. The year 2000 would be represented as 00. Some computer programs will think the date is 1900 or zero. The internal computations based on the date can crash non-compliant software. Year 2000 compliance (often referred to as Y2K) means the compliant software will properly handle dates in the next millenium.
